Independent Gym and Pool Program

Yonemoto Physical Therapy offers an independent gym and independent pool program for patients who have been released from physical therapy.

These programs are independent programs without physical therapist supervision.

The cost for the programs are as follows:

Independent Gym/Pool for 3 months – $240.00
Independent Gym/Pool for 1 month – $90.00
Independent Pool for 1 session – $15.00

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 6:00PM with a few exceptions.  The office is closed:

  • Mondays 2:00-2:30PM for staff meetings
  • Monday-Friday 1:00-2:00PM for lunch

Independent Gym Program
Prerequisites (you must meet one or more of the following):

  1. You have been evaluated by a physical therapist and have a specifically designed program.
  2. You have a doctor’s clearance for an Independent Gym Program.
  3. You must pay in advance in the Finance Department for the use of the gym area and services prior to admission to the Independent Gym Program.

When you are active in the gym environment, you must abide by the following rules:

  1. If you are using a piece of equipment that an active patient is using with the physical therapist, assistant, or aide needs to complete at that time, you must politely stop and let them use it.
  2. Report any piece of equipment you notice is not working properly so we can assure you and others of their safety in the gym.
  3. Please keep equipment clean and please wipe off any perspiration. This includes dumbbells, ankle weights, pulleys, paramount equipment, benches, treadmill, stairmaster, upper arm machine, bikes, etc. in the gym setting.
  4. Workouts should be no longer than one hour.
  5. Wear attire that is not overly revealing and allows good movement throughout your workout.
  6. Always wear athletic shoes.
  7. Report any injuries to a staff member immediately. If you feel dizzy or have any symptoms of discomfort, STOP exercising.
  8. If you wish to discuss your program and/or desire an upgrade of it, see the Front Desk scheduler and schedule an appointment with a physical therapist. (There will be a charge for this service.)
  9. Yonemoto physical therapy is a medical facility, not a public gym. Please try to keep socialization and noise to a minimum.

Independent Pool Program

We are happy to announce that our pool is warm and ready. If you are scheduled for pool sessions, please follow these simple guidelines so that you can maximize your time spent in therapy.

  1. There are changing rooms available.  Please allow yourself enough time to change and shower if you have a physical therapy appointment after your schedule pool time.
    (Late patients will have their treatment time adjusted accordingly, so please arrive earlier).
  2. You will need to furnish your own bathing suit, towel, and any other personal items needed for showering.  Please bring thongs, swim shoes, or appropriate footwear for walking from the dressing room to the pool and vise versa.
  3. Bring a gym bag or something to store your clothes in while your are in the pool. (Clothing should not be left in the changing areas. Yonemoto Physical Therapy Services, Inc. will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items left in the changing areas).
  4. Please notify your therapist or a physical therapy aide before entering the pool with any of the following:
    • Open/draining wounds
    • Bowel or bladder problems
    • Nausea
    • Fever
    • Diabetes
    • Chlorine allergy
    • Cold/flu symptoms
    • Unstable blood pressure
    • Treatment for cardiac problems
    • Infections of any kind, internal or external
    • Taking any medications
  5. Remember that pool treatments are for your benefit and the benefit of others in the pool with you. Loud boisterous behavior or roughhousing is prohibited.  Please be respectful of others.
