Hip Pain

The hip is the area where your thigh and pelvis bone meet. It is important because it helps to support the weight of the body and maintain balance. Hip pain can be caused by a number of different problems in the ligaments, muscles, tendons, and other structures that help support the hip.

If you experience acute hip pain, see your doctor before it becomes a chronic problem. Physical therapy can help eliminate or postpone the need for painful, total hip replacement surgery. Physical therapy is also an option for patients after or post hip replacement surgery.

Ask your doctor if you experience:
  • Hip pain, strain, or tightness
  • Inability to walk comfortably
  • Inability to perform everyday activities
  • Pain that occurs during the night or while sleeping
  • Pain that lasts for more than a few days

Causes of Hip Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Dislocations
  • Ruptured disk
  • Sciatica
  • Aging
  • Tendonitis
  • Capsulitis
  • Poor body posture
  • Total hip replacement
  • Congenital hip problem
  • Referred pain from elsewhere

Why Try Physical Therapy

A physical therapist can manage or reduce pain with individualized treatment plan: a combination of different modalities, hands-on manual therapy, exercises, and education.

Physical therapy is an option for those who want to delay or prevent hip surgery, and it is also for those who want to recover after hip replacement surgery.  A physical therapist can help you to regain function, reduce hip pain, and improve function.

Consider a Custom Sole Support™

Picture
A custom sole support is not like arch supports, insoles, or other orthotics you find over-the-counter at the supermarket or drugstore.
The difference is that they:

  • Actually change your foot posture
  • Combine great comfort with superior control
  • Can correct knee, hip, and back posture
  • Are the only orthotic that is calibrated to match your weight,
    foot flexibility, and activity level
  • May actually reduce an established deformity with regular use.

Yonemoto Physical Therapy is a certified provider of Sole Supports™.
Our physical therapists can fit you for custom sole supports at our office.
