Neck Pain

Millions of people experience neck pain at least once in their lifetime.  Most neck pain will get better over time and can be addressed without surgery. Neck pain can be acute (minor and for a short period of time) or chronic (ongoing pain for a longer period of time).

If you experience acute neck pain, see your health provider and ask about your treatment options before the neck pain becomes a chronic problem.

Ask your doctor if you experience:
  • Neck strain, sprain, tension, or tightness
  • Pinched nerve
  • Joint dysfunction
  • Whiplash

Causes of Neck Pain
  • Injury or trauma (i.e. auto accident)
  • Poor posture
  • Herniated disk
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Cervical arthritis (spondylosis)
  • Cervical headaches
  • Cervical stenosis
  • Fractures from osteoporosis

Why Try Physical Therapy

Physical therapists are highly trained to identify the faulty moving components caused by weak, tight, or injured muscles that stop or change normal motion and cause neck pain. A physical therapist can treat or reduce neck pain using modalities, hands-on manual therapy, exercises, and education. They help patients recover pain-free movements.
